Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Accurately pronounce the Arabic letters according to their correct Makharij (points of articulation).
- Have a deep understanding of the basic rules of recitation, such as Arabic vowels (Harakaat; Fat-ha, Kasra, and Damma), long vowels (Al-Madd), vowelless sign (Sukuun), Shaddah, Nunation, and so on.
- Identify and apply the fundamental rules of Tajweed, including those related to Noon Saakin and Tanween, Meem Saakin, and Laam Saakin.
- Recognize and apply the rules of Qalqalah (echoing).
- Understand and implement the different categories and lengths of Madd (elongation).
- Apply the rules of Idgham (assimilation), Ikhfa' (concealment), and Izhaar (clear pronunciation).
- Differentiate between the various Raa' (ر) types and apply their respective Tajweed rules.
- Understand and apply basic rules of Waqf (pausing) and Ibtida' (starting).
- Recite short Surahs and selected passages of the Qur'an with correct Tajweed and a degree of fluency.
- Develop a greater appreciation for the beauty and precision of Qur'anic recitation.
- Gain confidence in their ability to recite the Qur'an correctly in personal prayer and other settings.
